Background:
The South Peace Community Multiplex is currently under construction within the City of Dawson Creek which is located at Mile Zero of the world famous Alaska Highway. Both the City and the surrounding region are home to a dynamic and diverse population that enjoys a variety of arts, cultural and recreational pursuits. The City has taken centre stage as the EnCana Events Centre opened in spring of 2008. The EnCana Events Centre is a state of the art multi-events centre and will be the premier entertainment facility for the entire British Columbia and Alberta Peace Region.

The EnCana Events Centre is part of the South Peace Community Multiplex which is a multi-purpose facility whose focus is on both entertainment and sports - the largest such centre in Northeastern BC and Northwestern Alberta.
The South Peace Community Multiplex is Dawson Creek’s premier sports and entertainment facility. Included within the facility is the Lakota Agriplex, a 120’ x 250’ equestrian centre with over 100 stalls; the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre consisting of an 8 lane, 25 metre competition pool and additional aquatic amenities; and the EnCana Events Centre.
The EnCana Events Centre, operated by Global-Spectrum Facility Management
(global-spectrum.com) is an arena and a multi-event which plays host to many
different sporting events such as hockey, basketball, ice skating and wrestling,
as well as entertainment, including concerts, theatre and monster truck shows.
The EnCana Events Centre opened in spring 2008 and will be one of the catalysts in the redevelopment of Dawson Creek. The facility seats 4,500 for hockey and ice events and over 5,800 for concerts, family shows and other events. The facility has 451 premium club seats, 24 private VIP suites.
