Extreme Ice Racing

On Saturday, March 13, 2010 XiiR, the X-treme International Ice Racing AMA Pro Tour will be holding its 11th  rounds of its sixth annual championship indoor ice racing series at the EnCana Events Centre.  The series features lightening quick Speedway Motorcycles and ATV racing on a thick oval track of ice.  Top professional riders from England, Scotland, Canada, and the United States in two professional divisions will each be competing for National Championship titles.  The event also features an amateur quad division, showcasing local ATV riders who join XiiR for one night of pure adrenaline.

The speedway motorcycles are very lightweight, volatile machines that resemble mountain bikes with large powerful engines burning on nitro methane fuel.  What separates the bikes from other forms of racing is the NO BRAKES ALLOWED rule.

The Quad division features highly modified ATVs built and prepared specifically for oval track ice racing.  Any engine or chassis configuration is allowed as long as the machine is rear wheel driven and no wider than 52� at any point.  Wild machines seen nowhere else and crazy bump-and-grind action are the trademarks of the XiiR/AMA quad racing.
